Masala Chai Tea
Our take on what Chai Tea should be - a blend of fine whole leaf Ceylon tea, with strength enough to shine alongside the cardamom, star anise and a delicate blend of exotic spices.
The resulting Chai tea has a spicy flavour and sweet aroma that'll warm and comfort on any autumnal day.
Southwards from Kandy, Sri Lanka, the central mountains rise in elevation until the plateau of Nuwara Eliya is reached. Beyond, the land descends in a series of peaks and passes before rising again to a second high plateau, known as Horton Plains, from the edge of which it falls precipitously down to the forests of Bintenna thousands of feet below. Between these two high plateaus lies the tea-growing district of Dimbula (or, as it is sometimes spelled, Dimbulla).
I bought this hoping to match the old spicy chai version before the brand refresh. It’s ok, but no as good as the old one, with a stronger “black tea” taste instead of the smoky, spicy chai from before. Not bad, just not as good
